In looking at my three tanks during my lunch today, I was wondering how feasible this would be to plump all three of my tanks together in order to aid in filtration, dosing, etc.

I currently have :

75 gallon reef w/ 150 lbs. live rock and a 3" DSB (up for 1.5 years)

50 gallon frag grow-out tank w/ 40 lbs of live rock and a 5" DSB (up for 2 months)

110 gallon fish-only tank with 200 lbs. live rock and 2" SB (up for 4 months)

The tanks are in different parts of the apartment, but I'm the only one there beside my cat, so appearance is not an issue.

Could I get say a 55 gallon tank, fill it with sand, rock, and caulerpa, and use pumps to pump the water through all three tanks into it? Would this work? I could get Mag 7's or 9's and 3/4" tubing to set it all up...

Please post your thoughts on this, thanks.

Peace,

Chip

just my 2 cents.

If your fish only tank (for example) gets diseased, the water will be pumped into all the tanks, even your prop (frag) tank where the animals have cuts or breaks or whatever (and potentially lowered immune systems) that would attract the bacteria.
