I just got a wave maker for my 125gal reef. I got the RedSea Wavemaster Pro. This thing is great I have 4 powerheads on it now. The corals are loving it and the fish too. I think I finally have my currents right. I have a rio 2500 pushing on one side. A 1.5gal surge on the other side. And the waver maker powering 2 small powerheads and 2 large ones in all different directions.

Alex, I got mine a few days ago and hooked up my Gemini to it and I am impressed. The gemini put out 960gph each. Love the feed and night mode.

i like mine too. But i got a seaswirl and I love it. So i'm going to get another one for my 180 and put the wave maker back on my 55. I don't like having the powerheads visible in the tank

Hey, Alex.

How much did you paid for the RedSea Wavemaster ? And what dealer did you get it from ?

Thanks,

Mattt.

Well I work at a store so I got it there. It is 200 retail. I get a good deal for my work so I always buy there. Are you in the UP by the Calidonia Copper Mine?

do you guys ever have a problem with powerhead "chatter" when they start up? I disconnected my wavemaker after I found all my powerheads chattering. I know the heads are old but I couldn't afford to replace them all at the time. The wave maker says it has a soft start. I don't remember the brand but it kinda looks like the one seen here wave maker
Thanks, Rich

Xphiser- Ive seen posted that the "soft start" thing is not really much help. Don't have facts on that, but maybe someone else knows why that might be? IBJJ-watch those rio's, when one of mine started to do the chatter thing, it failed not long thereafter. Thank god it was a small rio and didn't do the tank poisening that some bigger one's have been blamed for.

Mine are chattering a little. It is working good though it is blasting everything with a good cycling current. The corals are still getting used to it but they should be ok.

Anybody ever use the "Natural Wave" wavemaker that kinda looks like a regular old power strip? It sounds great for the money (<$60) but I don't know how good it works or how well made it is.

I have not heard of those but. I have heard of making home made ones with regular timmers. But I wanted it to be random current not steady changes and that is what mine does it was still expensive though.

Yeah, I've had one for a couple months and wish I bought one sooner. The quality is good, no complaints there. You can find a description here.

The three controllable outlets can be tweeked from 20 seconds to 3 minutes. I think this is a good product for a reasonable price.... $120+ IMHO is a bit overpriced for what a wavemaker really is.
