I have been dosing my 125gal. with B-Ionic for the last 4 months. Because it is getting costly I was wondering about dosing with Kalk. My only question is that I have read that using Kalk causes problems with the pumps and that they would have to be replaced almost on a yearly basis. Which would not be cheaper than using B-Ionic. Thanks in advance.

Ive been dosing kalk for over a year and it hasnt effected my pumps at all.But i mix it 5 gallons at a time and let it settle for 8 hours before using it.Then i dose the clear portion of the mixture and dump out the sediment in the bottom.

I got a preistaltic dosing pump from innovative aquatic technologies 3 or so years ago for $150. I also use pickling lime for $2 a lb. Mix in a 5 gallon jug and dose 24/7. Since the pump is peristaltic the kalk never touches a pump. Everything is just peachy. HTH
