I use IO although in a recent post by Chris_h he was compaining over low ALK/CA and bad dissolving. I just bought home a new bucket and what he was complaining about is clear, it isnt dissolving right.
The September, 2001 issue of Practical Fishkeeping Magazine did a study of the various salt mixes out there and they rated Instant Ocean the best overal salt. Reef Crystals, Kent Marine and Red Sea salt also were rated highly.
Tropic Marin is my personal favorite and the one we use here in the store. IO and Kent are our other brands and I have no qualms about substituting either.
Salts I would avoid are Coralife, Red Sea and ALL of the off brand salts.
Instant Ocean for me. I tried Red Sea once since that was the only brand the local pet chain store carried. One thing I've noticed is the sand that remains on the bottom of the mixing bucket. Probably the sand that was bagged along with the Red Sea water when they evaporated it.

Or it's those non-soluable compounds like calcium carbonate that formed as it was being evaporated.
IO or Reef Crystals.
nope, did not find a difference in performance
but I did notice that whe I use Reef crystals ,
The mixing tub I used tends to deposit white
residue after leaving the mixture turning for about 1 day.
