I have some brown polyps that I moved over yesterday from my 15 gallon to my 46 gallon. In the new tank the are not as extended as much(the stem isn't as long vertically), as they were in the 15 gallon tank. Does this have to do with them getting more light in the 46 gallon, or less light than they were and are adjusting to the conditions? I have a 65 Watt Smartlite along with a 30 watt 50/50 in the 46 gallon. I had 2 15 watt bulbs in the 15 gallon, one 10,000K and one 20,000 K. thanks in advance.

Polyps and mushrooms tend to be more tubular (elongated) when there is less light available. Of course, physical and chemical differences may account for the change in morphology. I wouldn't be too worried if it looks a little different.

Thanks for the info. Yeah I try to feed them all, I also have a few large mushrooms and a rather large star polyp colony that is doing really well. Those for now are the only corals I have, but hopefully I'll add some more in the next month. What are some suggestions for corals based on my current lighting? Also, I have right at 100# of live rock, tank is pretty full, so most of the corals can be placed within 6" of the waterline at the top.
