Great magazine, I really like the idea about doing something w/ biotopes. Many "experts" recommend biotope setups, and although some books discuss them it can sometimes be difficult to find info. on creating them.

Looks great so far--you guys are doing a good job.

One thing, though: what about putting the sponsor pics and ads somewhere besides the articles? It's kind of distracting while you are engaged in an article, see a pic of a protein skimmer...wonder what it has to do with the article, then realize it's a spot promoting advertisers to place their ads.

I realize these things have costs...but is there any way to make it less distracting?

Thanks for all the good feedback so far folks. We really appreciate it.

www.advancedaquarist.com is an internet magazine, so we don't have any plans to "go to pdf" yet. Remember, we are just getting started (4 months so far) so we haven't worked out all the bugs yet, but we do have a "philosophy" that we are using to make our decisions.

If you want to print out the magazine, you are free to do so.

For the fellow (skylsdale?) that mentioned the advertising, we are just going to have to accept it. Advanced Aquarist as a magazine is supported by our advertisers (Thanks guys!) so they deserve to get some exposure in the articles I would say.

Again, this is a new venture and we are growing fast. Would anyone care to guess what we spent last month for our excellent articles by:

<ul type="square">Randy Holmes-Farley
Rob Toonen
Richard Harker
Eric Borneman
Jim Fox
Greg Scheimer
Randy Donowitz and
Doug Robbins[/list]

Let me just say - these folks should be PAID for the time to: research, write the article, scan photographs, rewrite, etc. THAT's how you get good articles and that's in our "philosophy."

Cheers
James Wiseman

Small suggestion: I'd prefer it if you increased the cell padding within each table/cell. It's an artistic issue, I know, but texts running to the very corners isn't pleasing to my eye.

I'll stop whining now.

And here I'd have bet no one would've noticed. It's actually gone back and forth a few times, Leonard... the earlier issues have more padding. I'll keep your comment in mind.

I like the e-zine a lot.

I would suggest that the aquarium of the month profiles go into more detail about setups. After looking at several of these on a variety of sites, the old "230 gal w/ 50 gal sump" stuff doesn't educate me very much. I'm really interested in how people have done their plumbing, their wiring, their rockwork, details of their circulation, not just how many gals/hr.

In other words, if I could visit their living room or fish room and look under the hood, under the stand, behind the stand, so on. It's sort of there, just request more detail and pictures from the people showing off their aquariums.

Thanks for a great magazine. I've really missed AF.

I hear you and others with similar requests. In the May issue, which will come out May 15th, the Featured Aquarium from Hong Kong, has photos of the equipment, which I specifically requested of the author.

I agree with Yellow dog and would like to add something. I think it would be nice to have a special one time issue with the top ten reef tanks and of course pictures of them. Have the top 10 all be from aquarists in the magazine area. Have everyone submit pics to you for review and post them on the website. The top 10 with the most votes get a spot in your magazine with pics of their tanks and so on. Just an idea.
