Jim,

What a beautiful speciman. I can't wait till my juvenile turns to adult colorations.

Do you have any tips or advice on making them happy?

Regards,
Sandy

Susan,
This angel is notorious for not able to complete color change in captivity. In fact, I have not know of a single instance where a juvenile Imperator able to change color completely in captivity. There seem to be something missing in out tank, either dietary or stimulus that enable these angels to complete the transformation.
The fish will still be healthy and survives fine without problem. This is the reason why i choose Majestic angel over Imperator angel for my tank.
Good luck.

I had a juvenile that was just starting the color change and posted asking about that. I had 3-4 people reply there's had changed. I doubt one of them because it wasn't complete and had been quite a while. The 2-3 that I do believe took, if I remeber right, 6-8 weeks. All had large tanks (125 and over), fed a variety, and their angels all ate well (angel formula, variety of algae, homemade), low stress environment. Good luck on the change and keep us posted. BTW, it should start at 3-5 inches.

Hi,

I sure hope he changes. His home is a 135 gal with a buddy that is a pinktail trigger. They are buds. Imperator is Shrek, Pinktail is Shad.

Get fed Angel formula, fresh shrimp, mysis, fresh clam, krill, etc., soaked in Zoe or Selcon, occasional garlic, have access to various sea plants, macro algae, live rock, sponge, hiding places, water movement (Iwaki 55 return), 80 gal refugium fed to main tank full of tons of life, just in case he needs that.

Keeping my fingers crossed for a change someday.

Definately post if it happens.

Do they stay their juv. coloration or partially in the middle? How about size? Do they still grow large if they don't change colors?

I'm planning on having one in my 280 FOWLR. What sizes were they when you bought them? I've heard not too small and not too big.
Thaks
