:twisted: Matt wouldn't have mentioned the specific dynamics of the search engine if it didn't lend to him being on the first page. I could have easily pointed out the new feature without recommending any particular search. Basically, by the logic which Matt suggests, Brian Dennehy is one of the best actors ever because he never refuses a role.
I would have gladly looked at his post that way, but I followed his exact instructions. Unfortunately, I found him on the first page. He could have demonstrated the new engine in any of hundreds of ways.

Gives you a quick Who's who of reefs.org.

Hmmm. I see exactly where Cracker read that the people with the most posts know the most about reef keeping. You don't see it?!? It's right there! :roll:

For the record, I am at the top of the list (at least that's what I was told) but I have only been reef keeping for one year. Never once did I ever profess to know the ins and outs of reef keeping. I frequent the board and do quite a bit of lurking, reading, researching in the main forum. If there is an answer I do know, I provide it, generally with a link to a thread by another much more knowledgeable member or another site/article. If it is something I think I know, but am unsure, I will give my thoughts, butI always let that member know that I am not sure and suggest that they wait for more responses. I feel I may at least show that he is not being ignored and that I may help get him on the right track with ideas for the search function.

Or I may give someone a little bump to keep his post at the top if it is something that hasn't already be answered numerous times and the answer would be easily attainable by using the search function. And I often just say hello to new members.
