I have an opportunity to obtain a male squarespot anthias 3-4" for my 50 gal soft coral reef already with an ocellaris clown pair. Would this fish be too large for my system?

P.pleurotaenia is one of the largerst Pseudoanthias, growing in excess of 7 inches. Although it would fit into a 50 gallon, I recommend against it since you are severely restricting this species' natural tendancies to swim in the water column and host nuermous females in a harem. For haremic anthias, I always recommend you get them in groups, preferably in a 100 gallon or larger. And for any anthias, you must dedicate a lot of your time to feedings: at least twice a day, preferably more smaller servings, 3-5 times throughout the day.

Here's a link to Scott Michael's talk in reefs.org: http://www.reefs.org/library/talklog/s_michael_030401.html
It contains good general info on Anthias fish.
