2 reasons for clicking sounds

1.Hermit crabs grappling,have seen mine forcefully knocking shells together when they meet.

2.when one turbo snail climbs onto another snails shell the one on the bottom has been seen to wiggle quite violently and so bangs his shell on the glass.

Just thought I'd share my observations as I always put these sound to a shrimp but maybe not,it's suprising the force these little animals can muster!

Don't forget clownfish,they click to ward off enemies. Also I hear clicking when the snails crawl IFO my powerheads and tap the glass.

I've also had tapping from one of my larger Trocus snails...

He (she?) would periodically shake his/her/its shell and knock it against the glass...

It was really loud and freaked me out the first time I heard it...

1. pistol shrimp
2. seahorse gulping down a live prey

I get clicking when the floating thermometer taps the glass, this simple discovery boggled me for a while. Hope your clicking is more complex then mine,

I have a big ugly black crab in my tank that I have seen niping on my live rock with his claw. It makes an audable clicking sound.

Mantis shrimp also click. I keep 4 of them as pets at this time and they click.
