Just got a shipment of various sps and other corals from ffexpress and I have to say they all look great. The only problem was that the water in the bottom of the box was about 65F. Also one of the Cuc's had some whit sticky stuff coming out of it's behind...is that bad because I know they can release toxins. Also should I put the sps corals on the sand and slowly move them up to their spots on the rock. I do this with all my other corals but these are my first sps frags :D I called ffexpress about the water temp and they said if anything happens they would replace anything for me...really great customer service. Any help on this would be great.

Well, it would be helpful to know what kind of lighting you have and how deep your tank is? But this method should be fairly safe. Start your sps low (on the substrate) and gradually move them up higher. Raise them 1/4 of the way up every 3 or 4 days until you reach your desired location. This would be a safe way to acclimate to most any type of lighting.

How's the cuke looking now? What kind of cuke is it? Filter feeders are the one that are toxic. If it's a tiger tail, you should be ok, but if it hasn't started moving after a day, I start getting concerned. Keep us posted.

Oops sorry...it's a 92 gallon bowfron corner unit...about 40" high with a 400watt MH 20k on top. The cuc is a tiger tail and he's moving around now with no more white stuff coming out so who knows maybe he's ok.

When they become stressed they eject their intestines as a tasy distraction so they can make their getaway, allbeit a very slow one. I dont think its the same type of thing when they release toxins, i think that comes more from the biodegredation of the tissue.
