LFS on Long Island???

Does anyone know of any reputable LFS on Long Island, NY? Preferably in Nassau County or Western Suffolk.

IMHO - This is my experience with these LI stores.

Country Critters - Patchogue - Widest Selection, Largest display, Knowledgable, Most Expensive. Use a quarrentine tank.
Fish Town USA - Norther Blvd. Flushing Queens - I don't use them for their advise, but I've had some good deals there. e.g. Large Healthy Purple Tang $40
Mutts & Butts - Merrick rd. Merrick - LFS Near my house - Expensive, knowlegable people, but they will sell you stuff you don't need.

Use a quarrentine tank.

Thanks guys....How do the both of you find the water on LI? If I could only get either a RO or DI unit which one would you recommend?

I actually live in upstate NY, but I consider a trip to Country Critters worth while. Plus I get to visit my old stomping ground, Southampton. I don't like the help there, and usually talk to them as little as possible. Its been a while, however.

I would use RO first.

My local water is high in Phosphates, but I don't recall the exact am't. I have a Kent Marine 35 gpd 4 stage RO/DI unit. I didn't get the Back flush kit and that was probably a mistake. I currently have a 75 fowlr and am planning its upgrade to reef.

The Pet Barn in Franklin Square on Franklin Ave.
I second FishtownUSA(bring cash, no credit for inverts, the manager said it is to keep the prices low).
Country Critters is good too(not soo Western Suffolk though).

FishTown USA also has the lowest Liverock prices of any LFS I've been to in the NYC area - by about $3/lb!

They've been pretty good to me there - probably because I bought my set-up there. One of the guys is more apt to tell you the bad news ("don't buy that for your setup") than the others.

Selmers Huntington... I think they used to be okay, currently they blow. Terrible inverts, poorly kept tanks, and a small selection of sickly fish.

Pets Warehouse Copaigue... Large selection of fish and inverts... However the turnover rate is fast. Which does not give the fish time to show illness. I have had good and bad luck.

Country Critters Rt 112... Immaculate tanks, well kept, lots of fish, and a huge selection of inverts (mature coral and frags). Too far away though for the western suffolks as myself. But Im actually gonna try this weekend.

Finding LR at FishtownUSA is a crap shoot. I've been there a hundred times and have seen the LR tank full(or half full)twice. Last week they did have 3-4" maximas for $49.99. A week later they were $58.99. Still a good price for a LFS.

ANEMONEBUFF is right about the LR at fishtown I posted recently about how one of the workers there telling me that the 3.99 rock is not cured and how he suggested dipping it in cold fresh water to cure. lots of feed back on that one. Pets wearhouse (not the place in PA). is located right off Sunrise Hwy.resonable prices sometimes good stuff, Also Northern pets (formaly Ace Pets)on Northern blvd. near the entrance of the Van Wyke in Queens good stuff there to. BJ's Jungle off Sunrise hwy also(havnt been there in a while he use to carry cool stuff.
