Use a clip on light with a 37 W florescent bulb. The screw on type with it's own ballast. The bulb cost 5 dollars and the clip-on light cost 9 dollars. Magcro algae grew great with this set-up. You can added several lights if you want more light.
I can even grow green star polyps and yellow polyps with this set-up. I will try some low light SPS next

With the Lights Of America, I would remove the clear plastic cover, to help with cooling the light. Bill

I use a fan blowing over the top of them. Keeps them cool to the touch and since its still sealed, no salt creep on the bulb and socket doesn't corrode.

I find in general LOA make crappy bulbs. Most of them burn out in 3 months. These 65w power compacts are the first LOA bulbs I've had that actually lasted a while.

I just ran to Wallmart and bought one. $24.95. Box says it will only heat to 98*F. Thats cooler than a 60W incandescent.
