I recently purchased a juvinile yellow tang for my 10 gallon. He is the only fish. My question is how often he needs to be fed. I have been giving him about 1 1/2 inch squares of green marine algae once a day and a few flakes every other day. Is this okay or should I change what I'm doing. I woried about my ammonia going up. I only use a small filter with carbon on occasion and water changes. I don't have a skimmer do to the size of my tank. Thanks for any help.

Okay aparently I'm going to get blasted by the tang police. I went to two lfs's and both said the tang I wanted would be okay for a few years. One store I trust alot and they were'nt trying to sell it to me because they didn't even have one available. But if general cencus is that I'm crazy let me know, but please do it nicely.

YOUR CRAZY!!! Just kidding :D
It will grow way to fast to have for any length of time in your ten gallon. It's probably already pushing the bioload in that small of a tank even though it's small. I would suggest returning it to the lfs.

a minimum of 80 gallons is recomened for a yellow tang.

i would never trust either

even temporarily (for a BABY hippo, maybe, and only for 6 mo.s or less)
you should have a 30-55 minimum to start a tang, and move it into a 75 min w/in a year.
