I would like to here from people with tanks too small for Cal. reactors. Tell me what you use to maintain Cal. and Alk. in your tanks. I am interested in ease of use and what folks have had the best luck with? I am currently dripping kalk and using Kent liquid calcium but lately my Alk. is not staying where I want it.

I use Seachem Reef Advantage Calcium and Seachem Reef Builder.

Reef Advantage Calcium also contains Magnesium and Strontium in proportion to the calcium...

I don't test the calcium levels, but the corraline algae in my tank is growing like crazy and forming plates...

I guess it's working...

What size is too small for a calcium reactor? It might help people to answer if you're a bit more specific. Effectivity of certain methods also changes depending on stocking levels and calcium uptake. With a bit more info on your part, I think folks will be able to give you more accurate recommendations.

My apologies Chucker, I guess I should have just asked what people who dont have Cal. reactors use for Cal. and Alk. I dont know if any size tank is too small for a reactor cause I know nothing about them, guess I should have just left that out. I am just looking for the best product to maintain Cal. and Alk. in my 30gal. I have mainly SPS and 5 clams and a few LPS. I am running 2x96w PCs and 1 250w 65k MH.

B-ionic from ESV is what I use in my wife's 7 Gal bowfront at her office. I send in children's medicine syringes 2 or 3 times a week and test her water. It has been staying around 480 on calcium unless I skip a week and it drops fast. KH was 120 this week when I tested it.

For my 55, I use a DIY Neilsen/Kalkwasser reactor, best $40 dollars I ever spent. I do have to supplement the Alkalinity from time to time, and usually use Kent's ProBuffer dKH. For my 10 nano, I use either B-Ionic or Tech A&B, whichever the LFS currently has, both with equally good results.
