Hey Guys and Gals,
On Sunday, June 2nd, 2002 Mr. Tyree gave a wonderful talk on #reefs chat room about Stony Coral Pigments, Algae Pigments and Captive Lighting. Reefs.org would like to thank him for taking a part in our community. We certainly hope that he will consider doing another talk in the future.

If you missed the talk, you can view the transcripts here:

Thanks again Steve,

I am printing the transcript right now. Tried to sign on last night but the chat was not interactive which sucked and the Lakers were playing:) I have in my possession about everything Mr. Tyree has every published and have nothing but praise for reefs.org for having a contributor of his magnitude come on for a talk. Well done! Thanks to the staff at reefs.org and thank you Steve!!:) FWIW there is only one Steve Tyree and I for one am very grateful for the numerous contributions he has made and continues to make to the hobby at large.

Good job getting the talk log up so fast - I think that's a new record.

It's good to hear that it's appreciated.

We have lots more good talks coming up.

FWIW, the talks ARE interactive. If you scroll to the bottom, you can read the question and answer session, where Steve took questions from the audience...kind of like a lecture and discussion section.

Cheers
James Wiseman

I'd suspect you were using the Java client, where it would not be apparent that the chat channel was moderated while Steve was speaking. If you were using mIRC (or a similar client), you would have seen a "+m" in the title bar, showing that the channel was moderated. Questions can be submitted to the channel operators at any time during the talk, and they will be pasted into the channel for the speaker to answer. This process keeps talks from becoming a free-for-all, where everyone is typing at the same time. You are always welcome to join #reefs2 during chats- this is our "peanut gallery" for chatting while the talk takes place in the main channel.

Thanks, James and Chucker. I was using Java because I did not think the others were workable on XP....I will certainly try to observe the next discussion and maybe ask a question or two if I can figure out how to do it. Having the transcript available in a timely manner is very nice and much appreciated! Thanks again!
