Picked up a bakpak a week or so ago, it worked great until it started leaking through the seal at the return .Took it apart put a little aquarium sealer on and put it back on.Now the water level wont go right.its staying half way down on the the return pipe casing a lot of air bubbles and noise that wasnt there for the first week.
Any suggestion,I'm stumped.
Thanx in advance

First do a search on CPR Bakpaks on the BB. There is a trouble shooting page out there somewhere. If you haven't done it already, try covering the air intake until there are no bubbles going to the skimmer. Then let go. This sometimes gets the flow going right again and may slow the outflow of water. you could also check the height of the return tube above or below the water. If the return is too low or completely submerged, the air from the return tube slow gets sucked into the tank with the returning water.

Thanx Dan,
I had found the troubleshooting page and the cpr board the other day, according to those the levels are fine. Its just weird that the first week or so,no bubbles, very quiet and great skimming, now noisier, lots of bubbles, but still good skimming.Guess I'll have to experiment for a while.
Thanx

Which pump do you have? Maxijet or rio?

The maxijet is noisier but is better,IMO. It may cause some excess bubbles at first.

The water levels you describe are the same I have with my BakPak...

I've noticed that I get more bubbles in the tank, and fewer in the chamber, right after I've scraped the glass or after I've done a water change or added Calcium or Buffer...

My guess is that those processes change the surface tension or density temporarily...

It usually clears up in a couple of hours...

Just one of the BakPak's peculiarities I guess....
