I got tired of periodically buying new pumpsets when the old ones wore out so I tried replacing the silicone tubing on the pumpset (the part that wraps around the wheel and eventually stretches out) with silicone airline tubing. The airline tubing is a little thicker-walled, but it has been working fine for over a week. As a precaution I used a little bit of super glue to hold the tubing in place. Just thought I would share the tip.

Good idea!

Of course, that was the peristaltic pump marketing idea - they get you on the replacement costs of the tubing. I personally preferred to order extra tubing from US Plastic. Do a search for "peristaltic" and you'll receive a wide selection of tubing that are suitable for our purposes. Personally, I prefer the Tygon Medical/Surgical tubing, since it's rated for higher pressures.

HTH!
