Hi,
I have a couple clowns and a damsel and every time I have to take them out for various reasons they are impossible to catch. Do I catch them with a trap, net, bait. What? Thanks

fwiw-i used to place a net at the top of the tank-with the handle propped on the top, and the net going in to the tank at an angle, 3/4 into the water. always put the food for the fish into the net, for a few days-fish would swim right into the net-worked very well for gregory dams in a 75 with lot of lr!
another method-place a net in a front corner of the tank, and leave it there for a few days-the fish will get accustomed to it-you may be able to chase the fish into the net with your free hand(one will be holding the net- takes patience, but will also work)
or-you can always remove all the rock, first!
One time I needed to take one of my damsel out to give to someone. Another time I had to get a domino out for a freshwater bath. I had to rip the tank and stress the heck out of the fish just to get it. I'm afraid I might need something like that when I have corals. I tried making a fish trap but it doesn't work very well.

Stick a mirror into a large wide-mouth glass jar eg. corningware.
Place it lying on its side at the bottom of the tank and near to some rockwork.
Wait. . . then enjoy as the excited fish venture in one after another.
When your target enter, let it get engross for a while and when its adequately distracted, simply reach in and lift the jar and all out of the water.
Good thing about doing it this way is the fish will not be harm eg scapel of tang or gill spine of angel fish getting entangled in a net.
When I had to catch two Domino Damsels I used the net to chase them into a glass measuring cup. It took a while, but I didn't have to tear everything apart. Then I pull out the cup and the net never touches the fish. (I usually only use the net if something dies)
