I had posted here when my 4th of July incident happened on the tanks heating up to 90 degrees.

Lost quite a few corals and fish. I have a katspaw, birdsnest, red pocillapora that had bleached. It has been a month and a half. I see polyps on these corals but they still have not regained their original color and still look white. I have left them in their original positions in the tank. I am starting to get algae on these corals in various places that won't come off with 2 times a day turkey basting. I have a powerhead pointed towards them to keep them in good water flow. Will they ever come back? Should I snip off the areas that are getting algae on them? Should I move them lower in the tank?

Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated.

If algae is growing on them then they don't have flesh on them -- which is a sign that they died and did not bleach. I think I remember your original post and several people recommended fraging the coral up before it spread. Did you happen to do that? (could have been someone else though).

If you have healthy sections of the corals still showing polyps, I would frag them off and remove the old coral before algae gains a strong foothold and kills the entire colony.

And of course updated pictures would help.

Thanks for replying. No I wasn't the one previously that was told to frag. I will definately do that tonight as the algae is slowly taking over.

How long will it be before the color comes back on the rest of the coral that is showing polyps but no color?

Thanks again.

Impossible to guess. It could take weeks to months.
