hey reefers in the chicago area -

Where can i get my tank drilled? I have been searching but it doesn't seem like anyone around here will do it for me. I am not gonna shell out the 80 bucks for the drill bit, but i need to get it done!

hey ya'll... sorry i didn't include the tank size, aka the only rule on this board...

It is a 75 that i want to build. I just graduated college and it is the only size that my parents will let me keep in my room. the previous link for drill bit size says a 1-1/2" bit is around 35$ ! that is so much cheaper than the other fish orriented sites that i have been surfing. thanks for the replys... keep 'em coming

When I was vaguely researching this before I found prices of $35-50. But then another CMAS member told me of a place in our neighborhood that I THINK was $15. However, this is IN Chicago--generally what would be called Near North/Northwest. I'm at Armitage and the Kennedy Xpressway, he is over around Lincoln and Diversey (I think). I think the glass place might have been in Logan Square area.

If you want I can dig for the glass company name, but it is a long way from Elmhurst. Also, I know there have been other posts on this either on this board or reefcentral. So you might do a search.

hi

"j frank" on fullerton and clyborn. They drilled my old 55 sump for me. I wanted the side glass drilled for the return bulkhead. It turned out that the glass was tempered because the tank was 11 years old. It blew up. But they cut a new piece of glass predrilled and glued it in for me. total cost $15

good luck

thanks guys...

looks like i will be getting a bit from the site listed above (a few posts up) If i am gonna be spending $$$ on getting it drilled, i can spend 30 bucks, get the bit myself, and do all sorts of stuff with it.

Thanks for the response, i will have to keep ya'll updated
