I've increased my WC's to 25% every two weeks. I will continue to do this until all of the hair algea is gone (it's almost completely wiped out  ). Then I will slowly work my way back to monthy, or less.
I do a 15% waterchange every Friday, unless I'm having a busy week... Then it turns into every other week. But, frequent water changes does SOOOOO much in terms of water clarity, pH, calcium, and pretty much everything else. I also made up a quick-and-easy waterchange system with a couple of buckets and a few powerheads I had lying around, so it's not a huge hassle anymore!
To those who don't change your water regularly, why not?! I've had nothing but improvement in my tanks since I started frequently changing water.
i don't know if i'm totally beyond the norm here but i NEVER do water changes... i just add. 2 years and reef is (and always has been) great - i've never done one water change... everything is clear, beautiful and growing.
Reefmack, how is that?? Wow, that goes against everything I have ever read, heard & seen.... If it works for you, more power to ya.... Any Algea blooms, clarity problems, ect?
i do a water change every week, but that's because my tank is only one month old. after about 3 months, i think i'll drop back to one water change every 2 weeks. peace
I try to change about 90 gallons every month or so (15%) however, sometimes I am too lazy or I run out of salt mix. When I leave it for 2 or more months, I don't really see much difference.
I do a water change once every.....whenever.I change water when I look at the tank and think"how long has it been?". Then a week or two goes by and I change some water.

until i read some posts after mine in this thread - i was starting to think i was the only one who didn't do them!!! but no i've never really had anything but luck with my 75 gal tank, it's fish, inverts and corals (knock on wood) - no clarity problems to speak of or any other problems really... I heard from an old salt when i first started my tank that water changes were only necessary when "needed"... but i've just never come across that scenario (in 2 years!). all i do is top off (w/ kalk added)...
i was thinking though - one thing i DO do is add some salt to my top off every so rarely just to make sure salt creep doesn't deplete my salinity levels...
ps one problem i DO have (that may or may not have anything at all to do with water changes) is flatworms... for about the last 2-3 months i've had a moderate population of them annoying me... but hell - the little buggers are just trying to get by like all the rest of us - but i do wish it were somewhere else!
