I have a 46Bow.

I tried the Prism for 4 months. IMHO they are not worth any skimmate that it could pull out. I constatntly had to adjust it. Noisy. Constant bubbles returning to the tank. Leaking where the pump connects to the housing. I called manufactuer and offered not much help.

I went and got a CPR BAKPAK and I love it for my size tank. I get constatnt good skimmate. I empty the collection cup once a week and clean the whole skimmer once every 2 months. I have added a limewood airstone into the skimmer that I run when I do aquascaping or a massive glass cleaning. (I hate the sound of the airpumps)

I am upgrading my 46 to a 58 and I will be moving the BAKPAK to my 15 nano then.

Whatever you chose you will probably have to tinker with it to get it to work with your setup.

Good Luck.

The bubbles are not coming from the power heads. I plugged up the venturi on the power heads because I got tired of rescuing snails that got trapped by the vacuum. The bubbles are definitely coming from the skimmer. Do you think a block of foam in the media basket would make an effective bubble trap (kind of like the one on the CPR Backpack)?

Blue It probably would but you will ne to watch it and make sure it does not become a nitrate trap 2 . I personally think that everyone is going to have an opion on these. and basically everyone is just going to have to find what works best for them. :D

I think you could use the media basket as a sort of bubble trap, you could fit a piece of filter foam (like from an aquaclear hangon filter) that would stop the bubbles... as once the basket is in place its a snug fit

I've had my prizm for just over a year now and i don't have any probs at all. It pulls out some pretty nasty stuff. I've been waiting for the upgrade kit to come out for a few months now. Guess i'll have to search around for a store now :)
