Best Reef Store in the Northeast?

I would like to say that Ritteri&Bubbles is correct in his statement.

I also had trouble with Tom and have since not been back to INLAND.

I posted a complaint on this board
to the moderator about free advertisement that INland was obtaining
from his postings , while sponsors on this board had to PAY for the same
adversitment INLAND was POSTING for free.

with that said
all LFS have there good and bad sides.
inland is not so bad, but could use some improvements

After rereading this thread I don't see where R&B said anything negative about Tom at Inland. He was referring to Tom at ReefGar.

I've spoken to Tom at Inland many times on the phone and in person. I've also purchased products from Inland in the past. My personal experience with them has always been positive and very informative. They are the most knowledgeable LFS i've ever had the pleasure of dealing with.

As for free advertising - I believe Inland is a sponsor of this board.

Out of curiosity - what is it that you feel Inland needs to improve upon?

Matt and Tom GIVE plenty of TIME to this board and of the LFS's I've visited they are on the top of the hobby. I don't have a problem with a little store plug in their posts.

Heck if Jeremy from Coral Reef Aquarium in Seekonk, MA didn't post regularly on this board I probably would have never heard of the store. I hope to check that place out in the coming weeks.

Tom, Matt and Scott are 3 very informative employees at Inland Reef. If you want good advice and products from a retailer, then I do not think you will find any better in this area. Personally, I would (and do) recommend them over any other retailer all things considered. (They once bailed me out when I found a CRACK in my 75 and I will be forever grateful for that.) However, Tom IS very intelligent and opinionated... and since ignorance is bliss... well... that may explain it.

Yes, MATT does . Hit reload a couple times and you will see an ad from Inland Reef Aquaria at the top of this page.

Putting a link to a store in your sig line is perfectly acceptable. Our policy has always been and always will be that this is a non-commercial board. We have chosen our sponsors carefully because we can trust them not to use this board as an advertising tool, but rather as an information sharing medium.

As far as Tom's "opinionated" attitude is concerned, yeah, OK, we're guilty as charged. I am more of a "people-person" than Tom is, but I guess that's just the way it is. Tom sometimes takes a while to warm up to people, but there are many on this board (and many more of our customers that aren't) that know him well enough to vouch for him.

C'est la vie.

This is my opinion as far as this board is concerned. Matt and Tom from Inland and Jeremy from Coral Reef are three great assests to this board. They have spent countless hours here helping others with problems and bring an excellent perspective of the retail trade to those of us who are here to learn. I have never had the impression that any of these guys were out to get "free advertisement". I for one feel lucky that knowledgeable people such as them frequent this board.

trash? thats a little harsh dont you think? i visited tom at reafgar in MASS i had no idea that the place existed until your post.i live 2 towns over and have been traveling to boston ect,so i went to check it out he had nice corals way cheaper than any place i have ever been. and he was very nice and helpful as well,maybe the problem is not with him but you?

Trash isnt harsh at all, when someone calls my house up personally and threatens my family with violence because of a negative comment left for his operation to begin with, I would consider it right on the money. He is smart enough not to call back ever again, as the 2nd time he was stupid enough to call me with threatening remarks, I was smart enough to have memo record on to keep his remarks on permanent record in case I ever have to get the police involved. This person is trash in my book. And Im not the only one who has been threatened or completely disrespected. I know of a few other members on this board who also had a similiar experience. One of which I think placed a special order and never got his money or his order.

I have not been wowed by any of the LFS's in the area.

I thought Inland looked really cool, but it will cost you, bring lots of cash. Last time I was there flatworms were in season!!! I don't know Tom from Matt but every time I've been in there there is a rotund fellow playing on his computer that seems bothered to be pulled from his perch. I had the old "we have them in stock" trick pulled on me by Inland, so I guess Reefgar has some company!

I have been to Reefgar's place twice, once to scope it out and then to buy some things. Both times we shot the breeze for quite a while and he seemed nice enough. I have never asked for prices over the phone so I cannot comment on that, but I thought his prices were the best around.

Sea World seems to be getting better, still nothing to get too excited about.

Little Shop has certainly been a disappointment, sickly stuff at a high price, and also a member of the "we have it in stock" club.

I am still trying to find an excuse to get to Monkeyboy's place so I can crap on it too(just kidding).

Honestly, of all the places I have listed I think Reefgar had the best value, but he lives too far from me to windowshop.

I think you should drive away from New England and quick, unless you can get to Greg Hiller's pad, now there is some nice stuff at a great price!

SeaWorld in Salem NH is a big joke, plain and simple. Last time I was there about 2 years ago, they had concrete for sale at $14.99 per pound "fully cured".

Greg Hiller does have VERY NICE corals. I do have to add that.

It was a call in request, Yellow watchman gobies. I was told there were six or so in stock. When I arrived I was told "I guess we sold them this weekend".

I am sorry than MY opinion offended you, I am not an authority on LFS's! I have been reefkeeping waaaay down south in Virginia for the past few years and in MY opinion the LFS's there were better than the LFS's here.

I agree that a couple years ago I too saw some pretty WHITE rocks selling as Premium Fiji for an outrageous price. I was there last week and to me it looked better. Ooops, I gave another opinion in the wrong forum again.
