Skimmer gunk..this sound right?

I get a med dark green skimmer waste in my collection cup. Is it potential algae in the water? I seem to remember my old tank had black or tan stuff.... :?:

I get all sort of shades of green and brown in my skimmer muck, it seems to vary without much reason, and the answer is YES, I think some of this is algae, but not enough to worry (or celebrate) about!!

If you are feeding phyto (dead or alive), these green things are it. Some of the greens are from the food too.
