I was so undecided when i wanted to buy my halides. So i read and read. And based on my readings i decided that the iwasaki's was the way to go. Now i heard that they were yellow, green, etc. Well it's been a week so far and i am so happy i went with them. Mine are dual 250watt iwasaki's with 190watt acinics. Well the color looks a crisp white. I tell you its the closest thing to natural light. Just wanted to share that..... :D

Dual 250w Iwasaki & 190w VHO actininc is a great combo. That should make you pretty happy. Only thing I like better than that combo is 250w HQI Ushio's.

mine had a slight yellow cast to it but it may have been because I was so used to the vho's. when I added the vho actinic back to it . it's great ..

Likewise, I spent a lot of time reading up on my Halides before I bought them. Ironic that careful research would lead two people to the same conclusion? Pair of 250 Iwasaki's and 220Watts VHO Actinic Powering my reef. Love every bit of it. I use 10K's on my refugium, and wouldn't trade my 'Saki's for any bulb.

natrual light?? ever dived a reef??

I never have but I was outside once............You have to dive a reef to know what "natural light" looks like?

Brokekyle,
Yes i have dived, more like 4 times. Maybe i didn't express myself correctly. I was really comparing it to sunlight. Not the reef. Although the deeper you dive the bluer it gets. My halides are 26 inches from the bottom of the sand. Take that same distance, go to a natural reef and compare colors. If its blue to you, then thats ok.....Also, if you look out your window and see blue, then thats ok too....

You can't compare anything to a natural reef but the dual 250 Iwasaki's and 190 watts actinic are a perfect match.... The best investment I made...

Looks nice too....

natrual light?? ever dived a reef??

Was there 2 weeks ago, and at under 30' (I was snorkeling) it looked quite a bit like my 3x400W Iwasakis w/ 4x96w PC True Actinics. Visibility was +50', unlike anything I have seen while snorkeling before. If anything, the water was greener than in my tank.
