I just received a Gemini external powerhead from thatfishplace. It looks like the mounting bracket is designed to only be used in an aquarium corner- plus I don't think it will work with my canopy which sit on the aquarium rim.

I thought I could just cable-tie it to my canopy, but its pretty heavy. Guess I'll have to build some kind of bracket...

Hi Rich,
Actuall, I just did a search on RC and came up with your page. Thanks for the info! Think I will build a bracket with wood like yours or maybe out of a pvc pipe that it slides into.

Dan, I have three on my 225 gal. and I made wooden brackets that work with the brackets that came with the pumps. The Gemini bracket has notches in it which the pump aligns with and keeps it from turning during my wave cycles. Without it my pumps would gradually rotate  .

i have 2 of them on my 40g, man do they rock! :)

i was lucky my tank is acrylic because all i did was cut two 2.5" holes and dropped the gemini's in place.

He has to be kidding. We tried one with 120 and water splashed out the other size. Hard to use these on tanks less than four foot long.

no joke fella's. it really depends on how you angle the nozzle. it took a slightly wet floor to finally angle them correctly. also the 3" lip on the 40g acrylic helps keep wayward water from splashing over.

here's a pic

it is essentially a "holding tank" to house some acros in for a while because i am selling my display tank. this will be home to my prized acro's until i find the time to set up another display tank.

LOL :) :)

that is a true issue i will encounter when i move some frags into the tank. considering there is no substrate, the frags will slide to and fro along the bottom.

ya guys thing that cut pvc will hold most frags?
