hi.
Does it come with a black rubber gasket around the cup? If not, get a large rubber band and it will let the cup get higher on the chamber, so that you will get nice dry foam instead of tank water or nothing at all.

we'll need some more info to figure out what is happening, but lemme start with this question:
did you recently add some Aqua-Stik or other type of reef putty into the tank?
have you been using "red slime remover" or some other typr of treatment?

Nevermind. I see your problems are more mechanical in nature.

Hey tom,

Favorite newbie quote #140...

But the box says Instant Ocean...

Seriously though... Heres what you need to do with the rubber band. It goes around the cup and you can raise or lower the cup by the placement of the rubber band. Lower causes a wetter foam, higher is dryer. To low just water or nothing, to high is nothing.

Also if you want to boost the effeciency of this skimmer, put in a airstone hooked up to a air pump.

The air line can be fed through the return line of the skimmer then routed up and over the chamber to go inside the chamber that all the bubbles are being produced. This will add alot more foam and makes for a better skimmer.
