Hi friends, last week i place an order with Champion Lighting. I order 3 Blueline MH 250w 10000k and a Kent 24" scrapper. Each blueline halides cost $89.99 and they send me 3 Ushios 250w 10000k for $99.99 each one. Did somebody use this Ushios alone with no actinics give some testimonies please.I have a cannopy with four 110w VHO from my 55g tank, maybe i add the actinics to this Ushios because i like the color it add to the corals and i have good testimonies about VHO lighting.Thanks,Ralphyhp.

I have a 250-watt USHIO in a bell-pendant running on a Blueline E-ballast. IMO you will want actinic supplementation using the VHOs.

The USHIO runs a very bright white on this ballast, not a blue-white.

I am running dual 250w 10000k Ushio's on a PFO ballast on my tank and I agree that the actinics are needed.

I am about to replace mine and am trying to decide if I should go with a differnt bulb this time.

If you were looking at bluelines they are very blue, you will probably not be happy with the ushio's alone, they are white and sometimes a tad yellow, not blue like the blueline. Since you don't have any SPS in the tank, why not call champion and have them swap it for what you really ordered? Otherwise use the ushio with actinics. Personally I really like the look of the ushios but lighting is largely a matter of taste.
