My brain coral has been growing a Bubble for almost a year Now the bubble collapsed and is drooping next to the main brain. I think it is trying to break away from the base coral Should I help matters out & separate it off by cutting it off or let it separate on its own. May take another year ... either way is ok by me as long as I am not hurting/damaging the coral
Your thoughts are aprreciated

DON'T cut it. Let if fall off. Its reproducing by means of (Still trying to confirm it) petal laceration. I'm trying to find a picture.

I don't know if it's pedal laceration per se, since lobophytum don't technically have a pseduopod. However I'm witnessing something similar in my tank as well (I think). I have a red open brain on the sandbed, and placed a rock near part of it's tissue. During the day when the tissue inflates, it touches this piece of rock. Well, over the last few months, it has started to grow skelton onto this rock. I'm waiting for a polyp to grow onto the rock area, and then will try separating it.

Osama, I wouldn't try and cut the tissue, LPS corals are very sensitive to open tissue wounds (especially large one's). If anything, place a shell or other hard object underneath the polyp that's dropping, and see if it will attach to it. If the coral is attempting to asexually reproduce, it will be looking for a hard, rock-like surface to attach to.

Mac; I like the idea of putting a shelf or something closer to it. The sack is now about 3 inches long almost touching the rock adjacent to it... What an incredible ;to see what can be raised in a tank.
