Just got home and apparently my top-off went nuts flooded the sump and the powerstrips must has tripped the GFCI. Clowns were gasping pretty bad, and all corals seem a bit stressed but not too bad... My toadstool on the other hand is completely limp... Will it make it? I already checked and temp / salinity are ok... this may have happened between late last night to now..

I got power back, is there anything I should do for now ? Besides pray ?

just re-set the timers and it looks like the GFCI tripped at about 8:00AM it seems the tank had no flow for about 9 1/2 hours... see the toadstool in the image below at the right of the image...

It's never a bad time to do a large WC.

You need circulation and aeration more than anything.

Hang in there!

As Louey mentioned, get some oxygen in the water and get some extra circulation going.

It hasn't been 2 hours since I discovered it, and it all looks good for now thanks... The toadstool is extending polyps and seems to be sitting a bit streighter... Thanks for the help, and I'll keep you posted...

Thanks... It all looks okay today even though the lights havent come on for the day. The toadstool looks perky and so does the rest of the tank.

How long without currect can a tank go ? I always thought that 4-5 hrs and everything would be dust !! From what I understand water volume is a factor? I'm not very clear on this, can anyone shed light on this for me?

BTW tank is a 29 with a 10g fuge... open fuge and open top (well actually a conope top.)

It depends on the oxygen level in the water. The higher the oxygen level, and fewer the fish/coral, longer it could hold without water movement. HOWEVER, if anything start dying and decomposing, ammonia spike will kill off anything else adjascent to it regardless of O2 level.

oh, I didnt know that a dying corals would cause a amonia spike !! Does that include say tissue loss on a brain. I had a brain a few weeks ago that was loosing some tissue. Finally stopped, but in situations like that should I monitor the amonia? BTW I'll check amonia today !

Small scaled tissue loss in a recirculating tank usually does not pose a big problem as the ammonia/nitrite quickly get diluted. The killer is things such as death of an entire specimen, such as dying anemone, LPS, Leather, Colt....etc. I had friend with a 40G tank. He purchased a ritteri that start deflate the second day it was placed in his tank. That friend was hoping for miracles and let the dying retteri sit in the tank. Days later, all corals and anemone is showing signs of deterioration. I tested his water, the ammonia level is off the chart. He ends up removing all the rocks and blast them with water outside of the tank to remove all dead tissues while making 100% water change.

Maybe I spoke too soon... See the darker areas of the toadstool?? It doesn't look like decaying tissue but that specific area is "deflated" and darker green... Polyps are extending out of that specific area though.... What do you guys think?

Keep an eye on it. It may still be ok. Polyp extention is a good sign.

That type of leather (lobophytum, I believe) is very finnicky. Mine turned grey and stayed shrunk for a month, then suddenly look great again when nothing had changed in the tank at all. Once the tank was fully matured (one year, plus) he quit being finnicky! Weird!

Wierd it's doing fine now... 90% the tissue we spoke of is now extended again... and lights had been on for a while before I posted the last complaint, maybe someone in the tank had pissed it off... wierd...
