Refugiums that is. What did you think I was talking about?

I'm wondering how big is your refugium and how much flow does it get. I'm designing a custom sump and trying to figure out the optimum way to plumb it. I've heard some say minimum flow, others say it does not matter. What do your think?

Tank size: 180G
Pump is an Ampmaster 3000 split between the display return and the skimmer.

I'm thinking a sump 48"(L) X 20" (H) X 16" (W) split in half. Part sump, part refugium. Any thoughts?

thanks,
-todd

hi.
Mine is bigger than yours.

I am in the process of setting up a 60 gal refugium. But this process have been going on for about two years already... so little time.

My sump/ref for my 180 is a standard 75 gallon tank split length wise. I run about 2000 gallons/hr through the whole thing.

I HAVE ENVY!!!

I would like to know H2O evap situation w/ the larger size ref. and sumps. (how many gal. per.)

I onlyhave a 125 gallon with a 40 gallon sump. The flow is driven by a Little Giant 3 MD pump at about 8-9 feet of head through a Ocean Currents Wave Generator.. I am guessing I have about 800 gallons an our flow rate back into the tank. I just addeed a second 250 watt MH to my show tank, but with one 250 watt MH on the tank (9 hours a day) and 65 watt PC on the sump (12 hours a day), I go through 8-10 gallons water a week just for top off. The entire system is pretty much open to atmosphere, 76-78 degree F, in the great lakes area so no shortage of ambient moisture.

I have a 150G tank with 2 sumps interconnected. One is 30G and the other is 45G. One is a dedicated refugium and the other is half refug, half equipments. Both are lit under 4x96W PC
