According to Scott Michael in his book 500+ Marine Fishes, there are only three species of Clownfishes that one can consider having more than two in a tank. A. ocellaris, A. perideraion and A. polymnus. I have keep trios Ocellaris and A. perideraion (Pink Skunk). I have never keep A. polymnus (Saddleback)
IME, Ocellaris does not abuse the juvenile fish. Please remember that I have a 400 g tank with two 18 inches H. magnifica anemones for these clowns to live in. They are very happy and, IMO, feel secures.
Other clown fishes are best keep in mated pairs. Two young fish will pair up, especially if one gets them different in size. If all you wanted were clown fish in the tank, I would keep three or four Ocellaris clowns.
