Just acquired some trimmings of Xenia that were scraped off the back of a tank :D . How do I attach them to a substrate (rock/glass/sand) :? ? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I have used rubber bands and attach them to rocks .. some people use tooth picks and squ them ... others use glue ... I personally use the rubber band thing ..

I have also placed them in a small hole in my live rock out of the major flow of water .. they will grow out of the hole and attach them selfs as they grow ..

Xenia grows so fast .. in my tank .. I am allways fragging them and saleing them back my LFS ..

hi.
If you use the rubber bands, make sure it is not tight, otherwise, it going to cut thru the soft tissue, and you will have two pieces flowing around.

I usually use a plastic cup with some reef rubbles in it. The Xenia will attach to the rubbles in matter of days.

I use white vexar case liner (plastic mesh) found in most grocery stores. Just go to the meat department and ask for a strip of it, they should give you some. Take it, cut it into squares, lay it over the cutting of xenia and the piece of rock you want it attached to, and loosely wrap rubberbands around it. The xenia will stick in 2-3 days. Sometimes it sticks to the vexar, so watch when you go to remove it.

Just take a small rock and the xenia and dry them both with a paper towel. Then glue the base with crazy glue. After twenty seconds of drying time you can put the xenia in moderate flow. That's how I fragged my xenia.

I get a cool whip container, fill bottom with sand and throw a few reef rubble in there and set you cuttings in there, and wait for them to attach. I didnt like using rubber bands. Once u get them growing, when u want to propagate them just put some smaller rocks next to your colony. They will jump to them in a heartbeat

I use bridal vail type material and a rubber band, you could also wedge it between two small rocks...It should attach in about a day or so. Make sure it has a little (very little, you don't want it blowing away) current so the "goop" it makes blows away.

I just cut a frag from mine. I took a little piece of rock squeezed on a bit of super glue gel. Still with the xenia under the water pushed it on to the rock, held it for about 45 seconds.......and walllah!!
that gel is awesome, I've even glued rock together under the water
