I was just wondering if the overflow of all glass any better than oceanic?
It seems like all glass has better design with bottom intake also, and water leveler?? anyone happy with all glass overflow. I current have oceanic rr.

I have owned both. I like the oceanic better. it moves more water.

The nice thing about AGA is the bottom inlet. But that means you can't have a super DSB.the sand will travel into the inlet slots.

If you open the the top inlets on the AGA O/F with a router bit from a dremel you can get the same output as the oceanic..

I've always been curious about the suitability of the AG overflow's bottom inlets for a reef tank. Don't they suck things in, like anemones?

the slots are small. I think they had that in mind. I put my hand near the slots and only felt a mild suction. enough to grab detritus but not enough to suction snails/hermits and others. My snails go right over them with ease.

I have an abalone that sits in front of the slat and waits to catch little goodies as they go by.

AGA overflows boxes are too small, and the slots too narrow

Oceanic are too big, ditto on the slots

Need to make one in between

As for design i dont think the bottom inlets make all that much difference as that gap will get clogged with calerous tube worms and critters and the water volume will drop over time. The main source of your water will always be the top anyway.

my 2 cents
