Hi,

I recently found a very small dropping(piece of a tentical?) under my frogspawn that looks exactly like the coral. Is this some type of reproductive behavior. I'm wondering because the coral has been extending much more lately than it has in the past.
If this is reproduction, does anyone have any advise on what I should do? Should I move the dropping?
Thanks

Brian

No I don't have any pictures. The piece is probably too small for my digital camera anyway. It does not look like a damaged droppong. It looks just like the coral, it is green with a small purple tip.

Disagree with Will C. I have a frogspawn frag in my nano at work - along with a Maroon Clown. I have personally witnessed him nipping off bits of the frogspawn and spitting them out. The nipped-off bits look exactly as you describe.

HTH.

Yes, it's the Maroon Clown. I have seen mine doing it also.

My clown would never hurt it...but every once and a while I would see him playing with a bubble in his mouth. I think he thinks it's a big jaw breaker. The frogspawn never showed any signs of stress.

Mine, either - I just let him do his thing. It's funny that you say that about the bubble... mine will sometimes suck in, spit out and chase those bits of frogspawn all around the tank. What a freakin' nutcase!

I guess if you live in a small bucket of water you have to do something to keep your mind occupied.

I actually evicted my maroon clown for this type of behavior......mine would grab frags (especially newly placed ones before the epoxy would dry and carry them off elsewhere. I will not have another in my reef.....
