How to add live rock?

Ok I just order my live rock. I will get it in a day. This is for a new tank, so do I just put it in the tank and let it cycle or should I dip the rock in to fresh water for 30sec. to get rid of any bad criters? Thanks

I would put it in the tank......dipping it in fresh water will kill all of the good critters also. You can do a visable inspection for anything obvious that needs to come off....dead coral, ect.

It's not an awful idea to rinse with salt water. Just make an extra 3-4 gallons in a five gallon bucket.

Definitely dip and shake it it in saltwater to get all the loose detritus off of it before putting it in your tank.
