For in-wall set-ups with fish room behind

Hi everyone,

I have been toying with the idea of venting the humid salt air outside for my 300g tank and 13x12 fish room. Here is a link on a good humidistat that is not too expensive at all.

this has SPDT or Single pole double throw, it could control 2 fans(In and an out)

By reading the description, I am not sure how you would wire it to turn on a fan when the humidity got high. It looks like it is designed to turn on something when the humidity gets low and shuts off when the humidity is higher than your desidred setting.

I am sure there is a way to wire it differently but .....


Make sure it will do what you want it to do.

Hi Jeff,

Yes there is. I will just use a relay, so when the humudistat goes off the fan go on and vise versa. I will have to use a relay, if I can't find a different humidistat,

Hi,

Yes she is. She is starting to get excited about it. She know about 95% of the fish and about 60% of the corals we look at by name.

Its been a fun journey this time. All my other reef aquariums where bought whole from someone else and had to hurry and set-it back up.

This time i'm planing, planing, planing. It is going to cost more, but I just want to take all the advise and knowledge off these boards and come up with a good model. I feel the more you plan the less problems (of course there will still be) you will have. Tank is due Feb 12th and if all goes well have it up and cycling by early to mid march.

steve i have also used a cheap celing fan for bathroom use as a vent fan you can buy them with plug ends on it, just hook it up to a timer and presto!
