On the Michigan LFS front, I must admit I am not a big Pet Connection fan because I am definitely not impressed with their livestock quality.

On the "what does my tank need" front, I think it is looking pretty good, but you may be able to do a lower light clam. Personally I would just let everything grow in and fill the space. What about adding equipment instead of livestock (upgrade lights, etc). That may open you up to adding new stuff later in life, and getting a bigger tank :).

A bigger tank is not an option right now, I'm limited on space now. In the next year or so, I hope to add an addition to my home which would be a family room and I plan on putting a 200g in the far wall with a small pump room accessable from the outside.

About equipment I think MH's would be an overkill for a 29g and too pricy for something I would tear down eventually.

Thanks for the compliments and suggestions. :)

Alveopora, had it for about 2 years and does really, really well !! My clows have adopted it as a home. Goneopora is a whole different ballgame from what I hear...

Other than Tropicorium I am quite unimpressed with most LFS around the Detroit area. I hear there is a good one in Lansing, and I may end up taking a trip up there this weekend, but in general I have yet to find a LFS that I "love". I guess we all have our own opinions on LFS, but I refuse to buy fish from them (Pet Connection) anymore which is why I am looking at purchasing online.

As far as MHs go, I dont think 1 MH on a 29 would be overkill, and the handy thing is you can eventually move it to your bigger tank once you get it. Usually if I run out of stuff to buy for IN the tank, I look for stuff to make my life easier outside of the tank.

What are those fish in the upper right corner of the pic? They look a little blurry so I can't quite tell. They look pretty though.

They are Anthias, not sure which ones exactly. I havent found any in any book. My LFS guy said that the wholesaler had them for about 2 months and nobody would buy them because they were about $25 a fish (wholesale). The wholesaler sold them after a while to him for $10 each and I picked them up at $16 each. They are really cool looking. My LFS had no clue what kind they were either and we spent over an hour looking in books and couldnt find it. Somebody told me they were a deep-water species and were pretty rare. Bartle, Bartel, Barel, somthing like that ! I'll try to get a decent pic soon !!

Cool fish. I've got a 29g as well, and always liked anthias but figured my tank was too small for them. Those look pretty small though. Wonder if they stay that way.
