Modifying an All-Glass 36 bowfront advice needed.

I want to hang a 150 Giesemann HQI light over this bowfront, but it has a very wide center brace that I think would block too much light. I am thinking about cutting the center brace and siliconing in a piece of glass as a replacement. Any thoughts? Warnings? Ideas? My other thought was to trim it from about 1.5" wide to about .25 inches. Any help is appreciated.

i have a 46g bowfront. i opted for two bulbs.

just a thought.
