Last night I transfered everything out of my 65 gallon aquarium into buckets, and back into a new 65 (tank was leaking). I saved about 40 gallons of water from the old tank. Today, all of my astreas are half hanging out of their shells, and moving only enough so that I know they are still alive. My CBS and blue leg hermits appear to be doing fine. Water parameters are:

SG 1.023
Ammonia 0
Nitrates 0
Nitrite 0
Ph 8.2
Alkalinity Normal (test kit only gives me high, low, or normal)
Temperature 77

suggestions please!

Did you rinse the new tank before adding your stuff to it?

I recently had a similar problem. I did a 100% water change and that seemed to fix it.

Eeech.

I guess anything is possible. I'm not sure why there would be any copper in it though. I did take a hang-on filter from a freshwater tank, put new carbon in it, and have it running on the reef tank now. it's been about an hour, and one of the snails I thought for sure was dead is showing signs of life.

Was the salinity in the new tank exactly the same as the tank you took them out of? Reason I ask - Astreas are very sensitive to changes in salinity.
