I was given a mandarin goby as a gift. I heard it is difficult to get them to eat in captivity. Are their any foods or hints you can suggest to give him a fighting chance :D

Unless you have an aged tank with lots of pods the chance of survival is poor.
If you don't see if you can return the fish to the LFS for something that will live in your tank.

I have a mandarin that my wife brought home to surprise me, and I thought for sure he'd die off even though my tank was 2 years old and had alot of pods... He finished off 90% in about a week and a half of all my pods but eats live brine and quite a bit of it... He's happy as can be. I have heard that I am quite lucky though that he eats live brine. Ignores everything else I feed like flake, frozen brine, blood worms ect....

Make sure you target feed in front of the mandarin. They are very feeders even when they are interested in frozen food. They may have a hard time eating in a tank with more agressive feeders. My mandarin was only interested in dead food when it was moving in the current and eventually would take it just sitting there.

Mine loves frozen Formula One. I feed Formula one once or twice a week and he almost always pigs out on it. He ignors everthing else I feed. Sustains himself picking at the rock, sand, glass, and everything. I understand that I am quite lucky to have a manderin that will eat frozen. Iv'e had him for over a year and a half. :D
