I am setting up a 70 gal system right now and I had intended upon using an etss reef devil 3 skimmer (similiar to 500 model) but the owners complained of size/noise. I was running a new sen 700 and it was very noisy. It was probably a little more than we needed anyway, but it was what i had. I am forced to investigate something different. Does anyone have a skimmer that they find qiuet yet powerful. I have prefer to not have to run such a large pump as the sen 700.

Any other suggestions.

Thanks, Andy

I just changed from a Reef Devil 3 to a Aqua C EV-120 about 2 weeks ago. I wish I had changed earlier. It was alittle loud when I first installed it but has quited down after about 5 days. I had contacted Aqua C and they told me it would quit down after breaking in. The EV-120 is rated for 40 to 120 gallons. I have it on a 105 and love it.

Is running an air hose form the intake to a window an option? Not only will this bump up your system pH (less CO2 buildup outside) it should make the skimmer run pretty quiet. If this does work, rubber band a mesh or filter media over the opening to keep the bugs out.
