New 11" Derasa!!

Thought I would share a couple pics of the new 11" Derasa I just got from a fellow hobbyist from Dallas.
He has downgraded his tank to a 150 and the clam just took up to much room.

First a picture of me acclimatizing it in a IO bucket:

He brought it to me from Dallas in a cooler!!

Gee, I was I could add an 11 inch clam in my tank! I'd have to take half the rock out of my 75. Oh well, one day... :lol:

That is what used to be a male Genicanthus melanospilos angel. It now seems to be reverting back to a female.

I have an old reef buddy that has one close to that size.. he now owns the LFS.. he's trying to sell it for $250..it's been there for months

That's a good looking clam.
Is that a copperband in front of the clam?
Has it given the clam any trouble?
I have wanted to add some clams to my reef but I didn't think that
the two were compatible.

Thanks for the compliments on the clam!

I've had the copperband in the tank with as many as 13 clams and it never bothered any of them. Even when I got a bacterial infection and wiped a dozen of them out. The copperband didn't mess with them even when they were sick and dying.

The crazy thing is that my Kole tang has been picking at it!! I've had to build a cage around it for now. I've tried to catch the tang but not had much sucess so far.

Oh well, you never know!

SO you recommend getting 13 clams per copperband?

Or 1 ultra large one big enough to eat the copperband?

Sweet clam! With such a huge shell, it might look cool to attach some zoanthids or star polyps to it so it could get covered.

Clam update.

My clam has been getting picked on by my kole tang of all things. I've built a cage around the clam and it rewarded me by fully extending it's mantle.
