Where would you place a long tentacled anemone in a reef tank? We put him in a hole in the rock, and the bottom of him sunk through the hole. It seems like he might not be able to roam freely. Should we place him somewhere that he can rest his underside and easily move around, or should we just leave him be? His tenactles shriveled when we first put him in, but he now he is fully spread.

LTA's generally are found with their foot buried in the sand up against a rock ledge. Moderate flow and good lighting are also needed.

Here is a pic of the placement of my LTA:

I dug a hole in the sand about 4" deep and placed the anenome's foot in the hole. It has the glass of the overflow behind it and there is a rock outcropping that is to it's right.

If it has attached where it is at I wouldn't try to move it though. It should be able to extract itself and move if it wants to.

FWIW, Nathan

leave it be, you're just fine-as the others have said-they do like to be able to hide their foot in a secure place, and they will move if they need to.if it's fully spread, and looks happy-then it prob'ly is.

Npadan, that is a nice clam! How long have you had it? What kind of lighting do you use?

I'm trying to start a clam lagoon and am looking for tips...
