Just added a Flame Angel about a week ago, and he's now starting to pick at my LR... Are my Coral next? Have a few Xenias that seem to have gotten a haircut also.... Flame maybe?

Reefguide: Flame Angels are beautiful and generally considered reef safe but--- I would keep a close eye on him to determine if he is causing your problems. Fish, like people, tend to have their own personalities and tastes. My experience has been that if I keep these "questionable" fish well fed they tend to not be as likely to bother the reef. Good luck.

Beautiful fish. I had one for a month. It took me three weeks to trap him and get him out. He nipped everything.

I friend of mine has had one for a year with no problems.

Every fish is different.

I've had a flame for a few years which has nipped nothing in my tank. Centropyge angels will nip at the rock in search of bits of algae and 'pods so that's perfectly normal, whether or not he starts on the corals is another thing though.

Just came back from my LFS and had to inform the new guy there that the flame angel he has in a small tank full of star polyps was having a feast!! The poor polyps on 5 different rocks had been mowed down. A shame because I was there to buy some green star polyps! Maybe next time.

Monkey Boy is right. Angel just like to nip on the rock. It's normal. If he doesn't do that, there is something wrong with it. kekekekeke :D
Infact, i'm now thinking having a frances angel with some sea fan, anemone, button, mushroom, and tube anemone. I'm stilll finding if there is anyother coral that will grow fast enough or poison enough to be keep with an large angel. Wondering if Acro can survive. :?:
