Why do I need an Overflow?

no kidding! I can imagine.
Salt water does bad things to furniture legs :lol:

I learned the trick from my LFS and then went home and set up my sump and forgot the hole.
I shut everythhing down for about two minutes to tweak something and when I came back I had about 5 gallons on the floor. Still have a white patch leaching up through the carpet pad ...

I guess a q-tip witha little vinegar or a tubing brush wouldn't be a bad thing to use.

Good stuff guys! I was thinking I would have to keep my return line(s) at water level. I've read about anti-syphon holes,but I kept thinking they were on the input side and couldn't figure out what the purpose was.
