I topped off my water about 20 min ago it was about an eigth of a gallon. I only have a ten gallon but I top off the same amount of water daily. Now my fish (two clowns) are gaspping for air. They were perfectly fine a minute ago. What is going on? All chem levels are the same as usual. What could be happening. One clown even went behind the rocks and dissapeared, It has never done that. They don't fight at all either. thanks

Was the top off water the same temperature as your tank water? Did you do anything to remove the chlorine/chloramine from the top off water? Was the top off water aerated well?

I think you can only wait and see.

I would love to help you but that is not really a question anyone can help you with. Can you teleport me to your house? Seriously though, maybe water was super cold. Did you use tap water? Bug spray? Good luck.

The water was R/O and the same I've been using for the last 6 months. I've been using the same gallon jug for about a week now. The temp was maybe 5 deggrees lower but it always has been and the water wasn't poured near the fish.

I decided to run a air tube to my power head and get some more gas exchange in the tank. 1 of the clowns is swimming around now and the other seems to be calming down. I turned off the lights to reduce stress. Pray for me and my little friends.

Not sure if you have may have this problem, but leaving lights on for long may cause water temp to rise above normal range.

My heater has temp control on it, and my thermometer reads 80 at all times. I've never seen it fluctuate.
