Anybody Use Protection? (in case of tank failure)

I have been out of the hobby for about a year, but recently got the itch to set up my aquariums again, and have been trying to catch up with this board again (only the names have changed).

Anyway, now I live in a third floor apartment. I'm a little worried about a tank failure or some other mishap, which is why I haven't set everything up since I moved here.

I was thinking about setting everything up over some kind of tub or pan, or maybe just a plywood box with pond lining that would be able to hold all of the water just in case.

Has anyone else done anything similar? Any suggestions?
