I know some of you have gotten some great deals on live rock. I just hope you would pass on the info on where to get the best bargan. I understand most times you get what you pay for but I know there are some great deals to be found. I have spent the last 2 day looking all over the web but I know I will never see them all. I am going to get around 150 to 200 lbs so every little bit counts.

Thanks for the help
Chip

I posted this message in response to an earlier post:
_____

I had a great experience with Ocean Life International. The web site is : http://www.oceanlife-int.com/

Here is their deal:

They sell BEAUTIFUL Marshall Island rock. The rocks are much nicer than the typical fiji rock, and much more porus than any florida rock with tons of holes and nooks for the fish to play in. They are covered with petrified coral "fingers" and look awesome. The rock is only $2 a pound!!!! Here is the catch....(there always is). They have sold off all of the corraline covered pieces, and are selling what they have left for only $2 a pound. I figured the pieces I was going to get were going to be plain white....but I was surprised to see that every piece had at least a little bit of corraline. So if you can be patient and wait for the corraline to grow...get this rock, its beautiful. I bought 50 lbs. and I will be supplementing it with 30 lbs from gulf-view (aquacultured rock). Once the Gulf View rock is in, the corraline will spread to the other rock. E-mail me if youy want some pics of the rock: [email protected].

Thanks Angelo
I spoke with Laura and she was very nice but I am not sure when you got your rock but she said the rock they have left is void of color. I understand that Coriline will grow on anything in time. I might get most of my rock from them and a few more colorful pieces like you did.
Thanks for the info

Downdeep I will have to call JP to get some prices. The site looks great but not too many prices posted that I saw.
Thanks

Hi Chipdog, I'm sorry for not having the price of the other rock up there but after the freight charges increased I had to take them down to adjust and since I haven't had any of the other rock in my physical posession since rates went up I figured I'd leave them off until I have it in. Fiji is by far IME the most and best selling rock out there.

www.exoticfish.com seems to have relatively inexpensive rock. He's been running specials this summer around $1.65 - 1.99 a pound.

A couple of buddies and I got some from there and it was not bad, some colored, some not.

It was not cured, so we had it in a curing tank for 6-7 weeks.

And to get concrete rocks to an acceptable chemical composition takes just the same ammount of time.

mark my words peeps, one day they will mock us for mailing rocks half way across the globe. Oh yes, they will mock us bad. And ill be there, at the forefront, automock on hyperdrive. Who wants a tank full of mantids anyhow.
